Based on 1,200 acres of beautiful parkland outside Totnes in South Devon, Dartington Estate is a historic visitor destination, events venue and thriving community of businesses, colleges and more. Our gates are open 365 days a year and it is free to visit.
Centred around the medieval Great Hall, Courtyard and Grade II* Listed Gardens, there is so much to see and do for everyone at Dartington – from fabulous food & drink to Deer Park trails and family activities; live music, theatre and cinema to outdoor pursuits and children’s playgrounds; accommodation offers from B&B in the Grade 1 Listed Courtyard to hostel rooms, glamping and camping. We also host weddings and conferences.

The much-loved annual Thrive event returns for late May Bank Holiday weekend. Now in its third joyful year, Thrive 2024 will consist of two stunning Indian classical concerts in the Great Hall curated by tabla maestro, Sanju Sahai: Kathak Dance and Morning Ragas.

Get a free glass of bubbly with your fish supper at “Fizz ‘n Chips Fridays”, enjoy our 2 for £20 meal deal served Monday – Friday between 12 and 3pm or join us for a delicious Sunday Roast from 12 noon every Sunday afternoon.

👀 Come and join us tomorrow down at The White Hart Dartington for FREE craft family sessions with Devon based crafting experts @incybox between 12pm and 4pm.
They`ll be running two to three different crafts, all aimed at aimed at children between 3 and 12 years. No pre-booking necessary.

Come and see our Handkerchief trees (𝘋𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘢) that are looking particularly beautiful at the moment. You can find them near the swan fountain in our Grade II listed gardens.
The trees are native to China and were introduced to the UK in the late 19th century by famous plant collector Ernest Wilson. According to Chinese legend, the handkerchief tree is considered the most romantic tree in China.
The Handkerchief tree gets its name from its beautiful white, flower-like bracts that appear to flutter in the slightest breeze, resembling doves or handkerchiefs. The leaves are heart-shaped and toothed and the tree produces round green fruit that turn purple as it matures.
Our Gardens Team have recently planted 3 more at the bottom of Magnolia steps.
