Dartington Community Choir and conductor Simon Dunbavand present J.S. Bach’s wonderful St. Matthew Passion. Join us on Palm Sunday 2025 in the glorious Dartington Great Hall to enjoy one of the most inspiring and profound choral works of all times.
Take part! Sing with us two of the beautiful Lutheran chorale melodies, delivered in English to meditate upon the unfolding drama. Listen to Bach’s sublime music and Picander’s German texts which take us back in time as we join with Mendelssohn’s revival of 1829, Bach’s first performance in 1727, and the entire medieval tradition of retelling the Passion story. Experience this highly-charged, emotional drama in the glorious Great Hall.
