School for Social Entrepreneurs Dartington
In 2010 the Dartington Trust established a partnership with the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), called SSE Dartington. In that time, SSE Dartington supported over 900 people to start and grow projects tackling social and environmental issues.
Both partners are immensely proud of the regional partnerships they formed and the impact they created across Plymouth, Devon, Somerset, Bristol & Bath and many other areas in the South West. These relationships are continuing and that impact is growing!
In July 2021, SSE Dartington became part of the School for Social Entrepreneurs. This charity supports 1,000+ people a year to tackle society’s biggest problems and has teams across the UK, in India and Canada.
The same team (formerly from SSE Dartington) continue to support the region, working across much of the South West of England. They now collaborate with a wider network of expert change-makers, while strengthening local communities.
You can learn more about their work and find support here.
There is a long and rich history of collaboration between Dartington and SSE, with strong historical ties, no less because SSE was in fact founded by Michael Young – the renowned sociologist, author and serial social entrepreneur. Michael became Lord Young of Dartington because of his deep ties with the place and the organisation. Both organisations are keen for this collaboration to continue and commit to explore this in future work on social entrepreneurism in the region.
