About this event
The workshop will explore and devise a new choreographic work for the magical story of The Firebird.
Choreographed and facilitated by Kay Crook – Artistic Director of the Chhaya Collective – participants will both learn sections of dance movement and create their own choreographies as part of an ensemble performance. The choreography will embody the character of the Firebird and will be performed as an immersive dance-theatre performance alongside Torbay Symphony Orchestra in The Great Hall, Dartington.
This will be a great opportunity for young people to discover the creative process of building choreography to a musical score and to perform with live music, which has been the focus of Chhaya Collective’s work since the company was established in 2014. This will be a fantastic opportunity for young dancers and/or creatives to collaborate with professional artists and local young people and to get a taste of what a collaborative creation process looks like. Firebird will draw on finding light in darkness and our collective strength, in a joyous celebration of community.
