About this event
Make your own shadow puppet of a character from the Firebird story and bring it to life behind our shadow screen. PuppetCraft will make a short video of the puppets in action, to show before and after Sunday afternoon’s concert of the Firebird….. so if you can ….book to see the concert on Sunday.
At the end of the workshop leave your puppet with PuppetCraft so we can use it to make a short video. Pick up your puppet at Sunday’s concert or by arrangement.
The Firebird tells the story of Prince Ivan who defeats the evil Kastchei with the help of the Firebird, who offers one of her enchanted feathers to Prince Ivan after he spares the Firebird’s life while hunting in the forest. The feather is later used by Prince Ivan to summon the Firebird when he needs her help, as Kastchei’s creatures chase after him. The Firebird’s magic makes Kastchei and his creatures fall into a deep sleep so that Prince Ivan can destroy the egg that contains Kastchei’s immortal soul, freeing everyone under his spell including thirteen princesses, one of whom Prince Ivan falls in love with.
5 – 8 year olds must be accompanied by a parent/adult
Ages 9+ can be unaccompanied
Adults are welcome to come on their own
Please bring your own drink / snack
