Four ground-breaking masterpieces that blazed the trail for 20th century music inspire a unique and exciting weekend of concerts, composition and dance workshops, puppetry, piano masterclasses and talks.

Debussy: Prélude à l’après midi d’un faune
Rachmaninov: Piano concerto no 2 (Soloist: Francesca Orlando)
Lili Boulanger: D’un matin de printemps (Live introduction to the music with the orchestra followed by a full performance)
Stravinsky: Firebird (1919 Version)
Soloist Francesca Orlando is a British-Italian pianist who has performed internationally both as soloist and chamber musician. Francesca was awarded an Open-Academy Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, where she completed herstudies under the tutelage of Prof. Joanna MacGregor and Diana Ketler and was a recipient of the Miriam Duncan Scholarship and Constance Bastard Memorial Scholarship.
Torbay Symphony Orchestra was awarded the 2023 Royal Philharmonic Society Inspiration Award which is the Society’s only award for amateur, classical music groups. In addition to a year-round programme of innovative concerts, the orchestra is renowned in the local area for its commitment to music education in the community.
Pre-concert talk on Saturday evening at 6.30pm and a concert at 7.30pm which includes a live talk with the orchestra on Lili Boulanger’s ‘D’un matin de Printemps’. Book tickets here.
This weekend of concerts, talks, masterclasses and workshops explores the world of Classical music at the beginning of the 20th century. Expressionism, the new Russian inspired vistas of Stravinsky and the post Romantic lushness of Rachmaninov are all here on show.
