Carito y Marina Weekend
What was this event?
Carito y Marina Weekend was a series of events, public discussions and exhibitions from Friday 27 – Sunday 29 April, 2018 on the Dartington Hall estate to celebrate the lives and explore the legacy of the Rodriguez sisters, Carito and Marina, who came to Britain as child refugees during the Spanish Civil War and went on to become much loved teachers and to contribute so much to life in Dartington and Totnes.
The event was organised by friends of Carito and Marina, with public discussions sessions on refugees and the future of learning organised in association with The Dartington Hall Trust.

| Public discussion on the future of education and learning Discussion focused on those who had direct experience of the “experiment in education” at Dartington, drawing insights from the experience and looking to the future of learning at Dartington and beyond. Chaired by Alan Boldon, Interim Director of Learning Innovation at Dartington. Expected participants include Mark Dunhill (former Dean of Art at Central Saint Martin’s College and Dartington School alumni), Tracey Warr (Writer and Lecturer including former Senior Lecturer at Dartington College of Arts) and Jonathan Dawson, Coordinator and Senior Lecturer at Schumacher College.
